Cárnica Batallé participate in the project "New technologies to control pig fasting period" in order to improve the meat quality and overall pork production efficiency in the framework of Q-PORK project.
This project has been co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER).
The objectives of the project in WP2 are:
1. To study optimal fasting times in relation to animal welfare and the final technological quality of the meat obtained.
2. Develop an automatic weighing system in the slaughterhouse that allows to know the fasting time of the animals.
In July 2016 the different tasks were started within the framework of the project "Q-PORK. Alternatives for improving the quality of pork and its products" within the Community Food RIS3CAT "INNOÀPAT", co-financed by PO FEDER of Catalonia 2014-2020. The coordinator of the project is IRTA (Institute of Research in Agriculture and Food Technologies) and the leader is INNOVACC (Catalan Association of Innovation of the pork meat sector).
