Projects with DARPA grant – Grups Operatius 2023
Project name:
AUTODESCAM. Continuous Intelligent System for the Certification of Self-Disinfection in Livestock Transport Vehicles, Improving Water Efficiency and Enhancing Biosecurity
Participants:
Ramadera Montpedrós (Leader), Selecció Batallé (beneficiaries), Proquimia (non-beneficiaries), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA)
Budget: 307.986,41 €
Grant: 249.875,77 €
Project summary:
The AUTODESCAM project aims to design and validate an intelligent self-disinfection system for livestock transport vehicles to address significant microbiological hazards such as Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, and PRRS. This innovative system will enhance biosecurity in the livestock sector, improving water efficiency and reducing chemical waste.
Through the automated nebulization of disinfectant products, the proposed system achieves a significant reduction in water consumption (up to 90%, from 120 litres in conventional processes to just 12 litres per disinfection). Additionally, a mobile application will be integrated to ensure regulatory compliance and facilitate data management, linking it to the RECELIDE platform for complete traceability.
Project co-funded by the EU through intervention 7161 of the PEPAC 2023-2027
